This is a Large Light approximately 30x24cm plus its wooden base.

I love this piece. So did someone else as it sold as soon as it was made. I'm now taking orders for this design. It won't be exactly the same but similar.

The deign is based on the seashore at Rerwick. The Second World War Battery is near to where I live. It's a favourite spot and has several war time lookouts and a crumbling gun emplacement. Well worth a look if you are visiting Orkney.

I work with clear glass and fire it three times with layers of enamels to create depth and detail.

The wooden base is made in Deerness by a local craftsmen who makes every base to fit each individual glass curve.

The curves slump onto a mould in an unpredictable shape and require fitting into the base snugly and securely. Dave sands three layers of paint to achieve a smooth surface and a final coating of matte varnish seals the finish. An LED light cable and plug is fitted. This base has a matte black finish.

This design will take around three weeks to prepare for posting.

All my work is made in my studio, Ingaskeldt in beautiful Orkney.
